Onwards and Backwards

Was lucky enough today to have a chance to say goodbye to a good friend. They’re moving to America; they say it’s only for a year (but Japanese companies often seem to have trouble telling time.)

I don’t envy her the work or the flight or the jet lag, but it would be so nice to be in a country where the language spoken is your language, the culture around you is your culture (more or less.)

Several good friends have left this pearl of the east for more rugged, greener shores the past few years. I can’t help but feel left behind while they move on.

But such is the life of an expat, I suppose.

Now everyone come back already!
