Hang Ups

It never ceases to amaze me what people get hung up on. From the beautiful friend who goes on about her flaws, to the guy who considers himself to be quite the gourmet, we get awfully caught up in these ideas that don’t really matter all that much in the grand scheme of things.

When adults insist on having things a certain way, we call it being disciplined or having standards. When kids do it, they’re being difficult.

One thing Me Too has been hung up on recently is having her lunchbox wrapped in a cloth like her teacher, as opposed to the disgrace of having it in a drawstring bag like every other kid at her school. This morning, she lucked out. I couldn’t find the drawstring bag.

I didn’t tie the cloth too tight because I’m not sure she’ll be able to open it by herself. Of course this runs the risk of having the thing come undone and the carefully assembled lunch falling apart, which is why everyone uses the drawstring bags to start with.

Round and round, chicken vs egg, you win some and lose some. And then some falls on the floor.

She was very excited about the cloth this morning. I hope it lives up to her expectations.

I’m definitely doing this instead of ultra expensive lunch boxes next term!
